Fond Farewell from student leaving the island...
"This poem is for Kerri
Just before I leave,
Kerri is the lady
who taught me how to breathe.

New to Island life
Unsteady and afraid
Starting to regret
The decision I had made

"Come to yoga with us"
New friends said "it's really fun"
I plonked down cross-legged on
My mat, and chanted 3 times "Ommmm"

Kerri made me welcome
I marvelled at her poise
She helped me stop and listen
To block out all the noise.

I made my way to down dog 
Some poses hard to keep
Requiring strength and balance
While breathing full and deep.

I followed her instruction
Listening - what a genius!
Something else she taught me,
Who knew I had a wenis!

We all enjoy our sessions,
With Kerri, this for sure I know,
Except when she smiles and says
"Fifty frogs....Let's go!"

So as she encouraged me
In her unobtrusive way
My practice became stronger
Yoga, part of every day

Kerri's authenticity
Always played a part
And as the months turned into years
I learned to melt my heart

With poems and reflections
And deep ujaii breathing
Kerri made the tricky poses 
Even seem appealing!

I never knew how much I'd learned
From time spent on my mat
Sometimes sweating, often peaceful
Times when I just sat.

So when I'm back in Belfast
I know I'll find a way
To keep my practice growing
and send Kerri "Namaste"
